SUGIHCLUB – A photo exhibition celebrating Eurasian Economic Union Day officially opened on Thursday (29/5/2025) at the Russian House Jakarta. The event was jointly organized by the Embassies of Belarus and the Russian Federation, with support from the Russian House.
The Eurasian Economic Union Day event welcomed the presence of Belarusian Ambassador Raman Ramanouski, Russian Ambassador Sergei Gennadievich Tolchenov, and Head of the Russian House Jakarta, Nikita Shilikov. The exhibition also commemorated the 11th anniversary of the founding treaty of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), which was signed on 29 May 2014.
In his remarks, Ambassador Ramanouski underscored the importance of regional economic cooperation under the EAEU framework. The union now includes five member states: Belarus, Armenia, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan—together home to a population of 185 million people.
“This year, Belarus chairs the governing bodies of the Eurasian Economic Union. The key priorities of our chairmanship were set by President Aleksandr Lukashenko,” Ramanouski said.
Since then, the EAEU has achieved notable economic growth. In terms of GDP, it rose by 17.8 percent to over USD 2.5 trillion. Moreover, industrial output grew by 29.1 percent, and agricultural production increased by 25.5 percent. These figures reflect the Union’s steady progress in regional integration. Mutual trade among member countries doubled, reaching nearly USD 100 billion.
Globally, the EAEU holds top positions in various sectors. It ranks first in gold production, and second in oil, gas, mineral fertilizers, wheat, and freshwater reserves.
“In agriculture, the EAEU contributes 3 percent of global production and 5 percent of global milk output,” the Ambassador added.
On the same occasion, Belarus reaffirmed its strong support for the ongoing Free Trade Agreement negotiations between the EAEU and Indonesia. Key areas of focus include food security, digital transformation, and promoting EAEU products in international markets.
As part of the EAEU’s regional agenda, the upcoming Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting and the Fourth Eurasian Economic Forum will take place in Minsk on 26–27 June 2025. ***
